Cancer treatments often too expensive for many

The influx of new cancer drugs which are more effective and have fewer side effects have raised a new dilemma. Many of the new drugs such as Gleevac, Erbitux and Iressa are extremely expensive and this needs to be taken into account when the patient and doctor discuss a treatment option. In a cruel twist of fate, many pharmaceutical companies offer free treatment to those without health insurance whereas many of those with insurance are still often unable to afford the treatment.
