Children with Type 1 Diabetes show signs of heart disease

A study conducted by the University of Florida shows that 10 to 18 year old children with Type 1 diabetes have less blood vessel flexibility than non-diabetic children. This is a symptom of heart disease usually only seen in adults. Thus, it is recommended that children with diabetes have their blood pressure and cholesterol level monitored and treated if necessary.
