COX-2 enzyme blockers may be useful in fighting cancer

Researchers are claiming that the COX-2 enzyme blocking class of drugs such as Celebrex and Vioxx may actually protect the immune system in fighting brain tumours and possibly even other cancers. These drugs stop the COX-2ís attempt to make the cancer cells multiply. However, Merck has ceased its trials involving VIOXX as it has been removed from the market due to its effect on arthritis patients.
