Husband settles for 675,000 after wifeís hernia surgery proves fatal

A 63 year old woman allegedly died after an elective hernia surgery went wrong. The womanís history of active cirrhosis was not taken into account and it was the first time the doctor had performed that particular procedure. Her husband claimed that the doctor did not have enough experience to perform such a procedure on a high risk patient. The case was settled for $780,000 before trial.
