Increasing fruit and vegetable intake may save lives.

The Ministry of Health indicates that insufficient fruit and vegetables was a factor in 1559 deaths per year in New Zealand. The deaths are form diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Research by the Cancer Society showed that 49 at sufficient quantities of fruit and vegetables and 6% of those who did not said they had no intention of increasing their intake.
