India’s rate of diabetes is soaring

The increasing rate of diabetes in India has been put down to stress, lack of exercise and a diet high in fat. The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences estimates that there are 19 million diabetes sufferers in India and the figure is expected to rise to 57 million by 2025. The WHO states that India is fast becoming the world diabetes capital.
