Mediterranean diet is a positive step towards good health

65% fewer deaths from cancer and heart disease occurred amongst people who followed the Mediterranean diet claims researchers involved in two studies. Also, half of the subjects with metabolic syndrome who followed the diet were free of the condition after two years where as all of those on a normal low fat diet still had metabolic syndrome. The Mediterranean diet involves eating lots of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, dried beans, nuts and seeds, fish and olive oil. Red meat consumption should be minimized as should margarine.
