New mumís breast cancer diagnosed as mastitis

6% of breast cancers occur in women under 40. However, it is often misdiagnosed as it occurs mostly in those over 40. A healthy 31 year old women sought a doctors opinion on a lump under her armpit. The doctor told her it was probably developing mastitis and to come back in 6 months if it was still there. Cancer was discovered after a checkup 6 months later and she had the lump removed and underwent chemotherapy.
