Overweight asthmatics should be encouraged to lose weight

The National Asthma Council believes that doctors need to encourage their overweight asthma patients to lose weight in order to improve symptoms. Even a modest weight loss can be of benefit. Furthermore, it believes that many respiratory illnesses associated with obesity are frequently misdiagnosed with asthma.
