Pertussis vaccine booster recommended

A resurgence of whooping cough in previously immunized adolescents has lead infectious disease experts to encourage booster shots of the pertussis vaccine. Whooping cough is a bacterial disease of the lungs that is spread via respiratory droplets and can cause coughing fits and death from asphyxiation. Symptoms to be aware of include rhinorrhea, sneezing, high temperature and coughing that can vary in severity from a mild cough to one that causes the child to gag and choke.
