Recall for Breast Cancer screening

Greater than 2,000 women in North Manchester are undergoing review of their breast cancer screening conducted between 2003-2005. The recall was based on human error concerning mammogram reporting by radiologists, which was said to be less than satisfactory. Three cases that were wrongly reported had presented and resulted in the review. Misdiagnosis in breast cancer screening can cause much anxiety and concern as mammograms are a fairly sensitive method for detecting a potentially fatal disease, but it is dependent on humans for its accuracy.
