A study done on asthma in Puerto Rican children found that the children of parents who reported their child had asthma, were more likely to have a depressive disorder. Children of parents who reported asthma attacks were more likely to have depressive disorders as well as anxiety disorders. The confusion between asthma and psychiatric symptoms could lead to misdiagnosis of asthma.
