Sleeping position can alleviate effects of acid reflux

Researchers have found that people suffering from esophageal reflux disease can help prevent long term damage by sleeping on their left side with their torso slightly elevated. This prevents the acid from coming up to the esophagus and sitting there which can cause damage to the lining over time. The damage to the lining can possibly lead to changes which may result in cancer.
