Two rare but painful conditions often misdiagnosed

Chiari malformation and syringomyelia are quite rare conditions but often people will have both conditions. The condition is frequently misdiagnosed and undiagnosed because it has some common symptoms. The condition starts with headache, immense pain and loss of motor functions. Chiari can also cause symptoms such as vision problems, dizziness and severe head and neck pain. Some sufferers have been misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. Diagnosis is via an MRI and if diagnosed early, provides the best prognosis. Treatment involves surgery or some medicines.
