A report shows that drug errors and infections are the leading cause of medical errors in Canada. Almost of Canadians claim to have had themselves or a family member go through a medical error. 9,000 to 24,000 preventable deaths occur in Canada each year. More than 1 million extra hospital days are used to recover from medical errors.
