C2: C2 is one of seven cervical vertebrae, which envelop, support and protect the spinal cord and make up the spinal column of the neck. C2 is the second cervical vertebra from the top of the spinal column and helps to support the head and to support and give structure to the neck. C2 articulates with C1 to allow for side-to-side and up-and-down movements of the head.
