Cavity of the Lesser Pelvis: The cavity of the lesser pelvis is the area in the lower or inferior portion of the pelvis or pelvic area that is located in between the pubic symphysis, sacrum, coccyx and the bodies of the Ischia. The cavity of the lesser pelvis contains the vagina, uterus, rectum, bladder, and some of the colon and other male and female reproductive organs. The cavity of the lesser pelvis is involved in many functions of the body, including reproduction and digestion.

Conditions that can afflict the cavity of the lesser pelvis include pelvic inflammatory disease, bladder cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infection, endometriosis, trauma and infertility.
