Cisterna Chyli: The cisterna chyli is a lymphatic vessel formed by the convergence of the lymphatics that drain lymph from the lower areas of the body. The cistern chyli then continues on as the thoracic duct, which drains filtered lymph back into the circulation by connecting with the left subclavian vein.
