Summary Information: Germinal Centers

Germinal Centers: Germinal Centers are areas in lymph nodes that contain and release lymphocytes in response to an infection by pathogens. Mature lymphocytes produce antibodies to help fight the infection. Conditions that can afflict lymph nodes and their germinal centers include lymphadenopathy, cat scratch fever, swollen lymph nodes, metastasis of cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma.
