Summary Information: Granulocytes

Granulocytes: Granulocytes are one of two group classifications of white blood cells. Granulocytes generally have nuclei in two or more segments and have granules that take on a distinctive color when stained for examination under the microscope. Granulocytes include the neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils.

Conditions that can afflict the granulocytes include leukemia, leukopenia, basopenia, hypothyroidism, idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, neutropenia, cancer, and chemotherapy.
