Right External Carotid Artery: The right external carotid artery is a major systemic artery that branches off from the right common carotid artery in the right neck. The right external carotid artery supplies vital oxygenated blood and nutrients to the neck, scalp, and face areas. Blood flows from the left ventricle of the heart into the aorta then into the brachiocephalic artery and the right common carotid artery and the right external carotid artery. Another major systemic artery, the superficial temporal artery, branches off from the right external carotid artery.

Conditions that can afflict the right external carotid artery include diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, occlusion, aneurysm, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, and trauma.
