Thyroid Hormones: Thyroid hormones are produced by the thyroid gland, an endocrine gland located in the neck. Thyroid hormones are chemical substances that play a big role in regulating many of the body's processes, including protein synthesis, metabolism and energy production, body temperature, and levels of calcium and phosphate.

Conditions that can afflict the thyroid hormones include hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, iodine deficiency, goiter, Grave's disease, trauma, and hypopituitarism.
