Progressive Spinobulbar muscular atrophy: Introduction

A rare genetic disease affecting the nerves and muscles. It is a form of motor neurone disease which occurs in adults and causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting. The condition can cause men to become unresponsive to androgen (male hormone) and hence become infertile. The disorder is X-linked so females can be carriers of the diseas-causing gene but only males will suffer the symptoms. The condition is also known as Kennedy syndrome. ...more »
