Glossary for Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome

  • Acanthosis nigricans: It is a brown to black, poorly defined, velvety hyperpigmentation of the skin usually present in the posterior and lateral folds of the neck, the axilla, groin, umbilicus and other areas.
  • Endocrine system conditions: Medical conditions affecting the endocrine systems, such as the related hormones or glands.
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Hairiness: Increasing or heavy head or body hair
  • Hirsutism: Increased hairiness
  • Metabolic disorders: Disorders that affect the metabolic system in human
  • Nail abnormalities: abnormalities of the nail may be missed if the clinician is not aware of the classic patterns that are seen so infrequently
  • Tooth deformity: Dental anomalies are craniofacial abnormalities of form, function, or position of the teeth, bones, and tissues of the jaw and mouth.
