Symptoms of Rectal cancer
Symptoms of Rectal cancer: Introduction
Symptoms of rectal cancer can vary among individuals. Some people experience no symptoms at all, especially in the early stages of the disease. Rectal cancer often develops from benign adenomatous intestinal polyps, which in themselves generally produce no symptoms.
If adenomatous intestinal polyps are not discovered and removed, they can eventually become cancerous, resulting in symptoms that include a change in bowel movements. This includes ongoing diarrhea, having narrower stools, or constipation. Other symptoms include bloating, gas, abdominal cramps, rectal bleeding and/or blood in the stool. People may also experience a feeling of not being able to empty the bowel completely, weight loss, and fatigue.
As rectal cancer grows, the lining of the colon gets larger and hardens and the growing tumor can block the colon, causing intestinal obstruction or rupture of the intestinal wall and a life-threatening infection called peritonitis....more about Rectal cancer »
