Glossary for Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis

  • Autoimmune diseases: A group of disorders in which the primary cause is the an inflammatory reaction caused by the body's own immune system attacking tissues
  • Enlarged kidneys: normal kidneys cannot usually be felt in children or adults (though they may be felt in newborn infants). Enlarged kidneys or a kidney tumor may be detectable
  • Eye and vision conditions: Medical conditions affecting the eyes or the vision systems.
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Immune disorders: Disorders that affect the immune system
  • Kidney conditions: Any condition affecting the kidney organs.
  • Kidney failure: Total failure of the kidneys to filter waste
  • Nocturia: Urination during the night
  • Non-pathogenic inflammatory conditions: Medical disorders that cause inflammation, but are not due to any infectious pathogen.
  • Proteinuria: Protein in the urine
  • Rash: General name for any type of skin inflammation.
  • Renal disorder: disease affecting the kidneys
  • Urinary system conditions: Medical conditions affecting urination, urinary organs or the urinary system.
  • Uveitis: A condition which is characterised by the inflammation of the uvea of the eye
  • Weight loss: Loss of body weight.
