Gastroesophageal reflux scan: A gastroesophageal reflux scan is a nuclear imaging technique to assess the upper gastrointestinal tract following ingestion of a radioactive liquid; radioactivity is detected by a special camera that takes continuous pictures as the liquid is consumed. This test is used to monitor gastroesophageal reflux and aspiration into the lungs.
