GIST test: The GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumor) test is a laboratory test used to detect the c-Kit protein (CD117 antigen) in gastrointestinal tumor tissue. The test is used to differentiate GIST from leiomyosarcoma (LMS) and determine eligibility for the anti-GIST drug Gleevec® (imantinib).
