Histidine test: A histidine test is a laboratory test used to measure the blood or urine level of the amino acid histidine. Inherited histidase deficiency, which is a relatively benign disorder that results in elevated histidine in the urine, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid, may be identified by a newborn screening program that screens for histidinemia.
