Monospot test

Monospot test: The monospot test is spot slide test that measures the presence of immunoglobulin M heterophil antibodies in the blood. The heterophil M antibodies cause red blood cell agglutination. However, approximately 30% of patients with mononucleosis are negative for heterophil M antibodies.
