Glossary for Vesicles

  • Atopic dermatitis: Skin disorder characterized by chronic inflammation, and pruritis. Often hereditary and associated with allergic rhinitis and asthma.
  • Chickenpox: Common viral infection.
  • Contact dermatitis: Skin reaction to an irritant
  • Cutaneous necrotizing vasculitis: Inflammation and damage of the blood vessel walls that also affects the skin. The condition may occur on its own or as a result of an underlying condition.
  • Dermatitis herpetiformis: Blistering skin rash of elbows, knees, and buttocks.
  • Eczema: Various forms of chronic dermatitis (skin rash)
  • Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease: Common contagious viral infant or child condition
  • Herpes: Virus with one subtype causing cold sores and another causing genital herpes.
  • Latex allergies: When a person has an allergic reaction to latex
  • Miliaria:
  • Photodermatitis: Any disease caused by exposure to light.
  • Pustules: Small elevated pus containing lesion of the skin
  • Scabies: Mite infection of the skin common in institutions.
  • Shingles: Infectious viral infection occuring years after chickenpox infection.
  • Smallpox: Dangerous virus now almost eliminated worldwide by vaccination.
  • Van Allen Myhre syndrome: A syndrome which is characterised by vesicles, celosomia, short neck, microcornea, and dextrocardia.
