Glossary for White matter hypoplasia corpus callosum agenesia mental retardation

  • Brain atrophy: A condition which is characterized by a diminution in the size of the brain
  • Corpus callosum agenesis: A very rare congenital abnormality where part or all of the fibers that connect the two halves of the brain (corpus callosum) are missing.
  • Hyperreflexia: An exaggerated reflex of the muscles
  • Mental retardation: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by mental retardation, hypogonadism, diabetes and facial and skull abnormalities.
  • Prominent forehead: An enlarged or prominent forehead (brow) of the head.
  • Wide-set eyes: A condition where the eyes are wider apart than normal.
