Glossary for X chromosome, trisomy 26-28

  • Behavioral symptoms: Symptoms of personal behavior.
  • Developmental problems: Physical or mental development difficulty.
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Lymphoedema: A rare nail condition characterized by thickened yellow nails as well as swelling of parts of the body due to lymphatic drainage problems resulting from blocked or damaged lymphatic system.
  • Microcephaly: Small head circumference
  • Seizures: A rare syndrome characterized by mental retardation, seizures and high levels of hydroxylysine in the urine.
  • Short stature: A rare syndrome characterized mainly by the association of short stature, Pierre Robin sequence, cleft mandible, hand anomalies and clubfoot.
  • Visual disturbance: Any disturbance to ones vision
  • Webbed neck: occurs in congenital malformations
  • X chromosome, monosomy Xq28: A condition that is characterised by the occurrence of only one X chromosome in the genotype of an individual
